Submission Terms & Guidelines

Please read these rules & regulations for submission very carefully PRIOR to submitting your series for consideration. By submitting your series to Seattle Web Fest, you acknowledge that you have read and understand these conditions.

  • You must be 18 years of age or older to submit.

  • Entry fees are non-refundable and do not guarantee placement in the festival schedule.

  • You may submit multiple entries but each series requires a separate form & entry fee.

  • The earlier you submit your series, the more you save as fees increase with each submission phase.
    • Earlybird Submission Period: July 26th - September 30th / $40
    • Regular Submission Period: October 1st - November 30th / $60
    • Last Chance Submission Period: December 1st - 31st / $80

  • Series that have previously screened at SWF can submit again as long as you submit a different episode. Use Code SWF2015 or SWF2016 to save 10% at any time during our submission phases. Series that have submitted but were not accepted in prior years can also use these codes.

  • Series created in Washington State can use code: KEEPFILMINWA to save 20% on submission fees at any time during our submission phases.

  • If you screened at SWF in 2015 & 2016 and won an award, you are not eligible for that award this year but are eligible for others. This rule does not apply for our "Audience Favorite" award.

  • Our selection committee will review one episode of your series to be considered for selection. Series that have compiled their entire series into one FilmFreeway video submission will only have their first episode viewed.

  • The episode submitted for consideration is the episode screened at the festival if that series is selected. Exceptions may be made at the discretion of our Programming Director. Super short series may or may not have more than one episode screened at SWF.

  • Hard copies will not be accepted. FilmFreeway has it’s own file submission process which makes it very easy to send us your screening copy via upload or Vimeo link.

  • You must have at least three episodes completed at the time of submission to qualify as a series even if those episodes are not yet publicly available.

  • You may submit episodes in a “Rough Cut” stage but still must have at least three episodes of your show either public or private. Final copy must be given upon selection and if still incomplete, will be at the festival’s discretion to present or replace your series.

  • Non-English submissions must contain English subtitles or, if necessary, be dubbed.

  • The submitter must own the rights to all intellectual property within your series. This includes music & photography or any stock footage.

  • No pornography. Explicit sexual acts performed on camera may result in disqualification.

  • You are free to submit to any other festivals and are eligible for SWF regardless of previous screenings.

  • By submitting your series, you allow Seattle Web Fest to publicly post or share elements (or complete publicly available episodes) of your series in festival promotional material such as advertisements, highlights, or trailers.

  • Only festival selections are eligible for awards.

  • Shows that won awards at Seattle Web Fest 2015 or 2016 are eligible to win other awards but not the award they won in prior years.

  • All festival selections and awards decisions are final.

  • Failure to meet these requirements may result in disqualification which does not entitle you to a refund of your entry fee.

  • If selected, SWF strongly recommends including a “Previously On…” segment before your episode as well as a “Next Week On…” if your episode is in the middle of your season.

  • We accept submissions exclusively via FilmFreeway and you can find us a http://seattlewebfest.com/submit or http://FilmFreeway.com/festival/seattlewebfest. Hard copies or emailed links will not be accepted.

  • By submitting your series, you will be added to our mailing list in order to notify you of your entry’s status as well as news about the festival.

  • Seattle Web Fest reserves the right to change these guidelines at any time.
