The 2nd Annual Seattle Web Fest took place on March 12th at Northwest Film Forum. Browse this archived schedule to find details for some of the incredible series we presented at the 2016 festival.


Strowlers is a shared multi-platform world from Zombie Orpheus Entertainment. Set in the modern day, it tells the story of the misfits, outcasts, artists and activists who exist on the magical fringes of society. Released under a Creative Commons share alike attribution license (which allows any creator to contribute works in the Strowlerverse) the show is a recipient of a WA Filmworks Innovation Lab Award. Ben Dobyns, Lisa Coronado, & Gabriel Gondo, Samara Lerman & Amanda Quinn will be on hand to discuss creating a shared universe and to screen a teaser for the pilot episode.

Grant funding & resources for Washington Based Series

From city to county to state grants and film incentives, where can web series creators in Washington apply for dollars to help tell their story? Panelists: Christina DePaola (4Culture), Irene Gomez (Seattle Office of Arts and Culture), Wes Hurley (Capitol Hill), Van Alan (Automata), Rosalie Miller (Chaldea), & Stefan Hajek (Wanderhouse Productions) will have a few ideas on where to start.



A fun, soapy web series about women who make money stripping on the internet. The first season follows Liv (Kate Bond), an out-of-work school teacher, as she confronts her own prejudices—and curiosity—about sex work and the women who engage in it. Escorting Liv on her journey through the looking glass are her best friend, Nikki (Annie Ruby), whose failing marriage comes with some intrigue of its own, and the mysterious, alluring Alexa (Sarah Schreiber), a powerful businesswoman with a walk-in closet full of secrets.



A web series that captures the Berklee College of Music experience through the eyes of three students— Kyana, Mau, and Alissia —as they attempt to make their musical dreams come true.



Shae Fitzgerald is a new teacher dogged by a violent past and a relentless desire to reach his class. His students, five tenth-grade misfits with clinical issues, don’t give a shit. So Shae pushes harder. Ignores the rules. Gets tangled up in his students’ personal lives. He will get through to these kids even if it destroys him. And it might.



Street Cuts

A web series that follows Mark Bustos, New York City hair stylist to the stars, as he hits the streets of South Beach to meet, explore the lives of, and give a free hair cut to the homeless. Approaching each person with the same, simple phrase “I want to do something nice for you today,” Mark uses his talent to make people look and feel good, having a positive impact in the lives of the people living on the street. Mark’s goal is simple, to shine a light on the issue of homelessness and inspire viewers to #BeAwesomeToSomebody, a hashtag campaign that Mark started.


Arlington Passages

A documentary series profiling residents of Arlington, Virginia; each with unique perspectives and stories, but one thing that connects them - the humble bicycle.




SFN follows the lives of four inner-city lesbians as they struggle to work out who they are, find a place where they belong and maybe even find someone to love along the way.



Talent Freaks

Illustrating the inward significance of art through the eyes of unique artists. This behind the scenes view of the artists promises viewers not only spectacular artwork and fascinating people, but also insight into their own passion and creative genius. Talent Freaks is about the creative process that is explored through the tools of each artist; from spray paint and oils, to found materials, wood and even bottle caps, these individuals don’t confine themselves to just one idea or medium. They embrace their fears and emotions, working through the entire process and moving out of their comfort zone to create something truly remarkable.


Fragments of Friday

A comedy about piecing together the night before with your best mates at your side. Over 12 episodes, Fragments of Friday follows the friendship of 20-somethings Alex (Kacie Anning), Sophie (Sarah Armanious) and Maddie (Madeleine Jones) as they herald the arrival of the weekend, only to spend the rest of it wondering what happened.

Rachel and Kat shine shoes. For real. For work. The twelve episodes of Series 1 add up to a day at the shine. A six-part, Toronto-based web series. Quinn, brilliant and alienated, is about to embark on a one way trip to Mars. But she hasn't told anyone she's leaving yet.




MEM is a postapocalyptic western webseries set in antarctica in the 24th century. After a devastating biological world war the only habitable place is antarctica, where the last remenants of mankind struggle to survive. There is no government, no law and technoligie has been reverbarated to the late 18th century. Those not living in fortified settlements, gather in small communities or have chosen to isolate themselves from society.



The Drive

Vancouver, BC, Canada

The Drive is an innovative web series that focuses on a makeshift family of five roommates struggling to carve their own path while living on Vancouver BC's eclectic, diverse and unpredictable Commercial Drive.



Innumerevoli Ombre


Set in rural italy at the end of 1800's, "Innumerevoli Ombre" examines a unique sentiment, that extends throughout all of the episodes: the distance from the others and the lack of empathy, which lead to selfishness and self-centeredness. The series wonders about the effects this distance can produce when dumped against a spouse, some family members or when it's addressed to all those living in the same environment.




Toronto, Ontario, Canada

A cyberpunk webseries about a girl who's literally empowered by videogames. In 2025, games are so immersive that teenagers learn skills just by playing. After she enables the haptics, Maxine's favourite rabbit-ninja fighting game gets a whole lot more punishing, with the new tech beating skills into her muscle memory. Which is good: she needs to level up quick once her employer discovers her on-the-job theft...





Unearthed is a series that you can follow on-line. The webseries present a first season consisting of 5 episodes. Uncover episode by episode the secrets and mysteries of this psychological thriller.

Sacrificed is a web series in which we share the stories of scientists so passionate about their research, they use themselves as human guinea pigs, subjecting their bodies to dangerous conditions and diseases in a valiant (though sometimes misguided) search for the truth.

The Mute Series

London, UK

Like live-action, single-panel 'comic strips' reporting on the vagaries of human behavior, The MUTE Series casts a deadpan eye over moments of absurdity and sees the funny side of greed, conformity, sloth and various other traits of modern life.

With a nod to Jacques Tati and Roy Andersson, but with a unique humor of their own, each film in the series is made with strict adherence to three rules: No dialogue, no camera moves, only one shot.

The Other Kennedys

Marshall and James are cousins and very distant relatives of the Kennedys, so distant they've never been considered part of the family. When they fail to get a job or internship after their first year of business school, the pair finds themselves wasting time at their summer home on The Cape.



My Wife is a Pastor

A web comedy series about the adventures of an unusual couple. He, agnostic and rational, trying to get by with the new profession of his wife as a protestant minister. It will, in passing, the opportunity to question the practices of his wife.




Following a group of dysfunctional adventurers on a quest to discover and destroy the mythical Sword of Fighting, JOURNEYQUEST is a comedic adventure through the fantasy world of Fartherall, where intellectual orcs, incompetent wizards, and holy zombies form the living (and not-so-living) backdrop to an epic story of unrequited love, burning passions, and severely reluctant heroism. And running away. Lots of running away …


BLOCK D: 3:30 - 5:00 PM


One advantage of the web series format: the diverse array of platforms available to feature your series and the opportunity for self-distribution. Carter Mason of and will be on hand to unlock the secrets of DIY distribution and share the techniques long-used for independent film distribution to help series creators develop a solid distribution plan, regardless of their budget and resources. The world of online distribution has opened up new opportunities, but systems and strategies from the previous era can still be used for business success. In this workshop, there will be ample time for Q&A, and Carter will give you a special look inside his recently launched platform, Flixtra.




LARPs: The Series is a fictional web series that explores how the imagination of play affects reality, and vice versa. In a LARP, or live action roleplaying game, players assume the identity of their chosen character and physically perform their actions.

Six twenty-something friends meet regularly to play in a LARP. When gaming, it's not uncommon to see romance, power struggles, and epic confrontations; how does that affect the lives of its players once they take off their armour?



The Village Green

Paris, France

The rural town of St. Maurice is in an economic crisis. Worn out farms and businesses are facing foreclosures, and the townspeople fear for the place they call home. Until the only cop in town, Officer Tom Niles, stumbles upon a bag of marijuana seeds, and proposes an idea.

During a routine traffic stop, Tom spooks a speeding driver into dumping a duffle bag full of marijuana seeds out his window. He enlists the help of the parish priest and Mayor to aid in convincing the conservative rural community to grow the seeds into a cash crop that will save them from losing their homes and livelihoods. The Village Green is a dark comedy that follows the exploits of a cast of characters as they attempt to return their town to its once prosperous state, while facing the inevitable hardships of trying to illegally 'quick fix' their town's problems.



Theater People

The cast of a site-specific production of Ibsen's 'A Doll's House' has to contend with a dilapidated farmhouse, a harsh Minnesota winter and an increasingly eccentric director in this comedy web series.



Stage Daddy

Michel define himself as a modern father. Husband at home, he accompanies with passion each of his five children in the practice of their own sport. From hockey to psychomotor activities, through Olympic wrestling, Golf and synchronized swimming, Michel spares no encouragement. Because for him, the important thing is to train winners!



Q's One Night Stand

New York, NW

No drunk chicks, no ho’s, and they can’t be from Staten Island (it’s a long story). These are a few of the rules Quinton has for one night stands Unfortunately, even relationships that end before sunrise have complications. There’s child abandonment, drunk fathers having Vietnam flashbacks and there’s just no easy way to explain to the why you’re with an unconscious, half-naked woman in handcuffs.



Redheads Anonymous

To win a Redhead Scholarship, Molly and her three ginger pals must find out: what does it mean to be a redhead?



Manic Pixie Dream Wife

Seattle, WA

Manic Pixie Dream Wife is a comedy limited/mini series created by M. Elizabeth Eller that examines the pop-culture trope of the manic pixie dream girl – the effervescent, carefree, quirky woman who arrives in a man’s life with a singular purpose: to help him become a better version of himself. Who is this woman? Where does she come from, and what is she like in everyday life?

Blending humor and drama, MPDW is both playfully sardonic as it examines the popular caricature, and thoughtful as it explores relationships, and the roles people bring into them. The series follows Chance and Simone as they navigate married life from two very different perspectives.

Storytelling Across Media. Series fans are hungry for additional content. How can creators use traditional and nontraditional strategies to tell their stories across multiple platforms and keep their audience engaged? La Supercafetera

Madrid, Spain

Three friends share a very special coffee maker: instead of coffee, it produces pin badges which give superpowers to those who wear them. By using these superpowers, the three geeks get involved in a quest that will eventually take them to a postapocalyptic future and back again to the present, where they stopped the future they've seen. Now they are heading to an abandoned house to spend the weekend. But, as usual, it won't be a quiet trip to the countryside.



Fatty Littlehead - Space Ranger

Fatty Littlehead-Space Ranger follows the bumbling exploits of a renowned, but perpetually intoxicated Space Ranger, and his enabling pal as they careen through the galaxy trying to help the little folk.



Zac and Me

Western Australia

A cross between Drop Dead Fred and Wilfred, Zac and Me is a eight to ten-minute-per-ep web series about a naive teenage girl, Emma and her heavyset, loud-mouthed, New Yorkian imaginary friend Zac.

Each episode Zac persuades Emma to tackle the everyday problems life throws at her in his reckless and often destructive way. He is the daring, fearless, confident voice in our heads that we all wish we could listen to. Zac's "help" frequently makes Emma's issues superficially worse.






The smuggler with the biggest swag and style from Latin America.




Being broke, single, out of shape, and mugged on almost a daily basis, Wayne defies all common sense and logic and decides to protect the people of Chicago under his superhero name, Watchdog. This would be great for Chicago if he could fight, run, or even sneeze without breaking a bone or two.



Night Owl High

Vancouver, BC, Canada

Delusional High School Vice Principal Perd Carlyle and intrepid school reporter Linda Hand set out to uncover and expose an underground ring of rebellious students who control everything from test scores to chewing gum. Their investigation centers on identifying the ring leader of the group, a shadowy figure known only as “The Don”. How far can the duo stretch to solve the mysteries at Eastwatch High, while still operating under the radar of the school district authorities?

It’s the story of a girl who was under the spotlight, but who ends up under a mountain of problems! Very much inspired by Xin Wang’s life as a Chinese model (and ex-model!) in Paris.


Straight to Video: The B-Movie Odyssey

Video store clerk Kevin is closing his doors forever. When accidentally unleashes a vortex inside the store it pulls him in the movies. Now, he must fight his way through different genre films to live.

In the third panel of &@’s Mayor Triptych, the boys portray the nepotunistic factotums of power without the agit-triumphalism of the moral didactic. Our protagonists are not heroes and do not stop their landlord-cum-mayor, nay, they unwittingly assist in his transmogrification; the boys merely try to survive rather than vanquish. Throughout the zane, &@ uses the polemics of postmodernism to create a fun-house mirror wherein exaggerated forms might speak more vividly than realistic ones.

Conversations from the Afterlife

Brooklyn, NY

‘Conversations From the Afterlife’ is the story of Clayton Gibb and Isabel Markovski. We follow Gibb on his challenging path which includes a bet with the Devil (aka Jerry) for possession of his eternal soul and the jarring process of being re-incarnated. We also follow the process of Isabel’s soul being built and positioned for inclusion in the first plain of existence. By the end of the first season they will become one in the truest sense of the word: Their souls will occupy the same body.



Phoenix Run

Taking place in a dystopian future where everyone is infected with a deadly nano virus, A street smart smuggler Marky is on the run from a crooked super hero and his infected henchmen. Marky flee's to the only family he's ever known, former superhero Ma Jones AKA Thunder.



Il Sonnambulo

Atticus Hurst – fêted photographer, infamous provocateur – has been living on the after-glow of fame like a faded shock rocker clinging to the vestiges of a world that has long since moved on.

Locked into a dangerously symbiotic relationship with his muse, Il Sonnambulo - an almost mythological killer - Atticus is tipped off by a mysterious, random caller (who never survives) at precisely 2:37 am the night of the killings. First on the scene he has found fortune – and infamy – photographing Il Sonnambulo’s atrocities. Over three decades he has traversed the globe documenting them all. The last seven years have been quiet for Il Sonnambulo – and Hurst – yet despite Atticus’s notoriety fading, his ambition to hunt his muse has not.




Parties are as essential to film festivals as the films (or series) themselves. Join us for a special "Filmmakers Reception" in the lobby of Northwest Film Forum as we wind down the festival with drinks, light catering and chatting with fellow creators. Cast, crew, family & friends are welcome to enjoy the festivities as we prepare to end the festival with our presentation of awards at 9 PM.
